The Notorious B.I.G.

Born and Raised in Brooklyn to Jamaican Parents.
Twenty-three years before Rolling Stone would describe him, in a 1995 interview, as "a mountain of a man, 6ft 3 in, 280 lbs, black as tar, with a W.C. Fields scowl and a lazy left eye," Christopher George Latore Wallace was born on May 21, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents both hailed from the Caribbean island of Jamaica — his mom, Voletta taught preschool; his pop, Selwyn, was a welder and local Jamaican politician. Selwyn left the family when Biggie was two, but Voletta worked two jobs in order to send her son to a private school — the Roman Catholic Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School; alumni include Rudy Giuliani and former Primark CEO Arthur Ryan. But Biggie subsequently transferred to the George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School; alumni include the rappers DMX, Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes. Biggie had excelled at English, but often played truant at Westinghouse and dropped out altogether in 1989 at age 17.

Synopsis

Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G., lived a short life. He was 24 years old when he was gunned down in 1997 in Los Angeles, a murder that has never been solved. Smalls was from New York and had almost single-handedly reinvented East Coast hip hop — overtaken in the early 1990s by the West Coast "g-funk" sound of Dr. Dre and Death Row Records. With his clear, powerful baritone, effortless flow on the mic and willingness to address the vulnerability, as well as the harshness, of the hustler lifestyle, Smalls swung the spotlight back towards New York and his label home, Bad Boy Records. He styled himself as a gangster and although he was no angel, in reality he was more of a performer than a hardened criminal. In this regard, he was similar to Tupac Shakur, his one-time friend turned bitter rival — a contest that spiraled horrifyingly out of control leaving neither man alive to tell the tale.

Mobb Deep Biography

Prodigy (b. Albert Johnson) and Havoc (b. Kejuan Muchita) have been rapping together ever since they met as teenagers while attending the Graphic Arts High School in Manhatten. In the early 1990s, they adopted the stage name Mobb Deep and released their debut album, "Juvenile Hell". The album was unsuccessful due to a lack of promotion. However, their 1995 follow-up, "The Infamous", was an enormous success due to their hit s
ingles "Shook Ones, Part II" and "Survival of the Fittest". To this day, it is considered an East Coast rap classic, alongside albums such as Nas' "Illmatic" and the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ready to Die". All of their subsequent albums have sold well, but 1999's "Murda Muzik" was particularly successful, earning them their first Platinum album. In 2000, Prodigy also released a successful solo album, "H.N.I.C.". As natives of Queensbridge, NY, Havoc and Prodigy rap about their experiences growing up in the projects. Their lyricism has an aura of truth that has been severely lacking in conventional gangsta rap. Their beats, produced mostly by Havoc, are characterized by heavy brushes on snare drum and haunting instrumental riffs. The result is a distinctly atmospheric, gritty sound that has become known to hip-hop heads as "Mobb Phonics". Far from glorifying gang violence, Mobb Deep can be considered the pioneers of "reality rap", a style of hip-hop that presents an accurate, observational picture of the inner-city. Their credibility, blunt honesty, and grimy sound has earned them respect in the rap game for over a decade, and they continue to maintain a loyal fanbase, in the streets and elsewhere.

Muslim Biography

Flipperachi Biography

The young rising star Hussam Aseem (aka “flipp” or “flipperachi”) is recognized as being one of the few passionate and devoted Arab rappers in Bahrain and the Middle East as a whole. Although his culture divides between those of Bahrain and Morocco, flipp knew that this was an advantage for him in order to fuse with the western community and allow the Arab world to cross the waters that had always seemed too deep to swim across.
Flipp first discovered his sheer passion for music at the age of only 12 years old “I like all kinds of music, but when I started to understand that music was about the taste to one , I eventually discovered my main “taste” which was the Hip Hop flavor in 1998” He says.
In 2003, Flipp was already developing his skills into a higher level. Determined to do something with what he had, he would not let his music be gone with the wind. “I started doing my own music since 2003 by rhyming any word coming through my mind and relating the subject to a specific topic with meaningful terms”. However, Flipp always knew that there was more beyond the four walls of his bedroom.
By considering the pessimistic mentalities and remarks he constantly received about being an Arab- born rapper from a very young age, Flipp converted this energy into a motivational drive to voice his certain situations, feelings or emotions until he breaks through. With his burst of energy and explosive lyrics he soon mastered, Flipp puts Bahrain and the entire region on the musical map.
Having the same passion, energy, goals and remarkable talent, it was not long until Flipp met the already well-known Dj/Producer “Dj Outlaw and in 2008, Flipp joined Outlaw Productions- The leading Hip Hop organization in Bahrain, which resulted in him being part of Dj Outlaw’s “History In The Making” studio album featuring local artists, as well as internat
ionally known stars of the music world - which launched in the markets as well as all digital music distribution companies.
Since then, He has worked with many artists around the world , and is found on “The Middle East Invasion” mixtape series volume 1 and 2 (which features the best of what the Middle East has to offer) and achieved performances on countless occasions such as at the Formula One, the Red House Hip Hop music festival featuring Hot Rod of G-unit, the Formula One Race zone venue , Bud Music’s “Finley Quaye” event and much more, as well as hosting for many shows within the region.
